EXCLUSIVE BAND INTERVIEW
We now have an interview exclusive to this UK website.........
TERESA- You said in a previous interview, promoting the Revelation album that you were making a new statement of who Third Day is - would you say that you're returning more to your southern roots - or in a completely new direction?
MAC- definitely in a new direction, but not necessarily dramatically different. The record is bigger and better sounding than anything previous, and it’s a step in a new direction in the way we made the record in the studio- not settling for anything less than what we really believe is the very best.
TERESA -Do you have any new musical influences nowadays?
MARK- Well being out on the Third Day Live tour with this amazing band called Need To Breathe. They’ve become an instant influence, as were Switchfoot and Robert Randolph on our recent Music Builds tour.
TERESA- Now that there are four of you - how different is the 'live experience' and what can the UK and Euro fans expect?
MARK- by having one instrument less the sound still feels really big but you can hear the parts more distinctively. We are getting a real excitement and energy in our performances that we haven’t had for a while.
TERESA- Tai - you said on the Chronology dvd regarding the Blackbird Medley (incl Blackbird, The Trucker song and Have mercy) that you and Mark would never sing together again. This is a big disappointment. Would you ever re-consider and sing it over here?
TAI- probably not, but we do enjoy singing our backing vocals! Mac’s voice is the signature sound of Third Day.
TERESA- Is Alabama the only place you sing 'Sweet Home Alabama'?
MAC- No! I think we play it in a few different places- even in Holland if memory serves me correct
MARK- In the early day it was a great encore song for us, we didn’t have enough songs for the encore so it often got us out of a hole!
TERESA- Most fans are aware of the amount of resources you put into humanitarian causes - are you likely to do more mission work?
TAI- I think so, We are seeing it as a core part of what we do now. It gives clear direction to our fans as to how they can put their faith in action. The recently formed Come Together Foundation gives us a great vehicle for these aid and mission projects.
