Posted on: 07/06/2011 @ 10:59am by David Burton

As you might expect, the boys from US Rock Band Third Day have been moved and challenged by the catastrophic tornadoes that have been quite literally sweeping through America. Details of the benefit can be found on www.thirdday.com.

As a part of their ministry they have signed up to be a part of a special benefit gig in Birmingham, Alabama along with a host of other artists and speakers. The “Make Your Move Alabama Tornado Relief Benefit” concert is for victims of the April 27th band of tornadoes that hit Southern Alabama.

Proceeds from the concert will be shared across the state through the band's Come Together Fund to selected relief agencies, including: The Birmingham Dream Center, Alabama Baptist Tornado Relief, Samaritan’s Purse and World Vision - Each of which have been working to with victims of the tornadoes since day one. More information about each of these organisations can be found below.

When we heard about the devastation caused by the storms and tornadoes in Alabama and our home state of Georgia, we, just like everyone else, wanted to do something to help, said Third Day’s Mac Powell, who originates from Alabama. We are so excited that so many of our friends agreed to stand beside us as we attempt to have a night that will not only raise money and supplies for many people that so desperately need it, but raise hope and build faith through this great night of music and encouragement.

I have seen first-hand the devastation caused by these tornadoes,” commented Nasser, the Pastor of Christ City Church in Alabama, “This is more than a concert, this is ministry. Pure, raw, real ministry.
